Humanising Energy

For the BBC Humanising Energy series, Wild Studio partnered with BBC StoryWorks to create a bold and visually arresting title sequence for a documentary series exploring sustainable energy and its global human impact. Using Unreal Engine, we designed lifelike CGI “metahumans” onto which real footage was projected, capturing how energy innovation is impacting lives across the world. This approach helped set a thoughtful, cinematic tone for the series from the very first frame.

Footage of energy production was projected onto hyper-real CGI characters, visualising the influence of energy tech on real people.
Our pipeline merged real-world cinematic lighting with real-time rendering, allowing for creative freedom on a tight schedule.
The typographic treatment blended humanist and futuristic typography to reinforce the shows message.

The sequence pushed creative and technical boundaries — blending virtual projection mapping, stylised cinematography, and bespoke animated typography to complement the human-tech narrative. The result is a striking piece of visual storytelling that balances innovation with accessibility, and reflects both studios’ shared ambition to make sustainability stories emotionally resonant.
